  • Event Description:Build a wonderful 12ft sailboat in three days with your family and a dedicated Marine Docent to mentor you. Total cost including a professionally made sail is $1100. You will be proud to take home the Oyster River Cat designed by legendary Ned McIntosh. You will be proud of the accomplishment of your family working together on an elegant project you are not likely to tackle alone. It will provide years of family fun and memories. No woodworking skill is required, only the desire to do something with your hands. All family mmbers are invited, but each family must include a youth age 12 to 20.

The boat is gunter rigged which means the mast and spars will fit inside the boat allowing you to car top or fit inside a pickup truck. The 65 sq. ft. sail provides sprightly performance. Without the sail rig it serves as a hard working row boat. Building takes place at the UNH Kingman Farm in Madbury, NH. Visit the web site www.unh.edu/marine-education for details.

    Applications are due April 15.
